The predecessor of Ingram Micro Magyarország Kft. was founded on the 5th of December 1989 by the Videoton Electronics Company and Walters Europe Limited under the name Walton IT. The company was initially engaged in a wide variety of activities, when they signed the Novell Distribution Agreement the company became the first in Hungary to start the traditional two-tier computer distribution (wholesale). In the following years, distribution became an increasingly important part of the company’s activities. In 1991 the focus of the network was strengthened, which was also reflected in the new company name: Walton Networking Kft. Taking advantage of new opportunities, the old-new company has begun large-scale portfolio expansion, including personal computers and peripherals. In February 2000, in accordance with the changed owner and product range, the company took over the name of the parent company and Ingram Micro Magyarország Kft. was established.
